 Rectangular Marquee Tool

The Rectangular Marquee Tool in Adobe Photoshop is a selection tool that allows users to make rectangular or square selections in an image or canvas. This tool is handy for isolating and working with specific parts of an image.

Here's how you can use the Rectangular Marquee Tool:

Selecting an area: Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool from the toolbar (shortcut: M). Click and drag your cursor on the image to create a rectangular selection. Release the mouse button to complete the selection.

Fixed aspect ratio: Holding down the Shift key while dragging with the Rectangular Marquee Tool creates a perfectly square selection (maintaining a 1:1 aspect ratio).

Adjusting selection: Once the selection is made, you can move it by clicking inside the selection and dragging it to a new location. Additionally, you can modify the selection by resizing or changing its shape.

Editing within the selection: Once an area is selected, you can perform various editing functions limited to the selected area. For instance, you can copy, cut, paste, apply filters, fill with colors, or make adjustments only within the selected region.

Refining selections: You can refine selections using other tools or commands in Photoshop, such as feathering the edges, adding to or subtracting from the selection, or using selection tools like the Lasso Tool to fine-tune the area you want to isolate.

The Rectangular Marquee Tool is commonly used for basic selections where a rectangular or square area needs to be highlighted, cut, copied, or edited separately from the rest of the image. It's a fundamental tool for various editing and design tasks in Photoshop.
